So.. It's that time of year again.
As you know, every few months there is a new presidential election held within the NWC with the victor being inaugurated as the President of the NWC. Where Can I Find Out More About The NWC's Politics?
Click here to read our article "How To Become PRESIDENT" - it contains everything you need to know about the Presidential elections within the NWC; as well as information about the four main political parties.
A lot of what is mentioned in this article will reference information stated in that article, so go and check it out right away if you are interested in learning more about this. Why Is This Election Late?
Some of you may be wondering this, and the government have no doubt been getting this question, we presume.
Not long after their last victory, The Spartan Party (the political party that is currently in charge) passed a bill changing the frequency of elections from 3 months to 4 months. This is why it may seem like this election is late, but, instead, it's just that they now happen slightly less frequently. The Candidates
The four candidates leading this triannual election are:
Each Candidate's Policies
Spartan
In this election, the Spartan party have declared that they would like to further reduce taxes and further decrease law-enforcement and military spendings.
Interestingly, whilst they have done this during their last two terms (decreasing military spending from an average ~$250,000/month previously down to an average of just ~$100,000/month; a considerable decrease) (decreasing law enforcement spendings from an average ~$250,000/month previously down to an average of ~$175,000/month) they have actually increased the budgeting of three different governmental departments:
Unionist
In this election, the Unionist party has the first female African-American candidate with a shot at securing the election.
They have promised to improve the welfare and support for the poorer in society - decreasing taxes to practically nothing for most of the unemployed within the NWC, whilst charging extremely high rates for the wealthiest. She has promised to re-allocate police funding and to give huge funding to the Liberty City Police Department, as well as the N.O.O.S.E and TACTICAL departments. Most of this, they claim, will be used for far better "vetting and training" to help combat against the police brutality and corruption that is plaguing the Los Santos Police Department, the Grapeseed Police Department and the San Andreas Sheriff's Department. In addition, they also vow to increase military spendings back up to north of $200,000/month to face the ever growing issue of terrorism that is "sweeping across the nation". Volkspartei
The Volkspartei seem to be slightly changing direction under the direction of Struthers.
Half brother of GSPD COP Alex Struthers, MacKenny claims he wants to completely re-work the justice system (which, by the way, has only just been completely re-worked) and invoke a larger military presence in San Andreas, almost trivialising the police departments. Conservative
Having already run in, and won, several elections, former President Loui Margaret-Jude wants to indite far higher taxes for everybody - without much of a difference based on earnings.
In addition, she also wants to increase the military spendings to over $300,000/month, as well as tripling law enforcement budgets. Who Will Win?
Whilst we are less than 24 hours into the election and it is hard to accurately predict who will win yet, we do have some indication.
Currently, the Spartan party are taking the lead by a considerable amount. Whilst it is certainly not impossible for others to surpass them at this stage, it is giving them a considerable lead. They are the only party in history to come true on every promise that they made during both of their successful elections (which can give them the upper hand due to their trustability); but some have been saying that they have done everything that they can do and that someone else needs to be elected to continue from their work. And, as always, the controversial nature of their party's owners, and the President himself, are always going to be a big obstacle for the Spartan Party to overcome. However, Unionist leader Corrine Tonor was predicted to win this election. She definitely has the support of the minorities and poorest in the NWC, that's for sure. Her police policies, mixed with the fact that she apparently has "plans" in place to improve the employment levels in San Andreas, Alderney and Liberty put her as a favourite amongst the poorer communities. Though predicted to finish third in the election, the Volkspartei are currently in second place in this election and look like they have a good chance of winning. This is likely due to the reputation of MacKenny's brother, though, and what he has done for the town of Grapeseed and its surroundings, rather than anything particularly remarkable that MacKenny has done or promised. And, finally, the Conservatives. They were predicted to come last in this election - which, so far, they are doing. This was not predicted because Loui Margaret-Jude has a bad track record; on the contrary, but rather because her economic policies are going against the current economy within he NWC. How To Vote
