Yet again, Residual Records gave us very little warning before releasing some music. However, this one is a bit different. That's because this is their FIRST EVER MUSIC VIDEO. The song is by a female artist called KT. We didn't know who she was, so we did a little digging and found that she is one of the members of the rap group, Douglas Fam. Remember them? They released Residual's last single, In This Like 2012. First ImpressionsFirstly, the song; The song is really good, but it isn't that impressive compaired to some of their other music. Don't get us wrong, it's far better than any of Residual's competitors could and have ever done, but it isn't the best thing they have ever made, in our opinion. Now, the video; The video is far less impressive. It seems like the sort of music video a teenager would've made with the Movie Maker equivalent in the 1990's. It isn't so much a "video" as it is a collage of images. However, that being said, it does provide a lot of images of the artist, KT, as well as other members of Residual Records that we're assuming are members of the Douglas Fam. She's a really good looking girl, actually. It also shows off some really cool Douglas Fam artwork - though we aren't sure whether they made them or they're fan-made. Either way, they're really good. It's also important to note that this isn't the type of music we necessarily expect from Residual Records. Whilst it is rap music, like most of their music, it is more like the sort of rap music you heard on Life Hurts, rather than The Posse. It may be worth noting that the song is very short, too, only lasting 100 seconds from start to finish, though this isn't necessarily a good or bad thing as long as it is 100 seconds of quality. PositivesWe get our first peek at what the members of the Douglas Fam/Residual Records look like in real life - including KT. We also get a good idea of her personality through the images in this video. She seems like a really laid back yet eccentric character, once being pictured with a real, live snake on her face whilst she's just really calm, and once being shown with a snake painted onto her face. She's also pictured in a gas-mask with earphones over it, as well as shown smoking either a cigar or a really big joint. The song is really chill and good to listen to whilst you're laying down relaxing or when you're in a really chilled out mood. It also gets you thinking about some of the things she's talking about in the song. NegativesThe first, obvious, negative is the music "video". It just isn't what we expected. Residual Records have, since they re-branded a few months ago, produced and released nothing but the absolute best quality they can; and, whilst this video is really good, it just isn't the quality we expected. Also, the video doesn't really go with the song. It does go with the song well, but it isn't very well timed to the tempo of the song. Not only that, but the actual video quality is very poor. It is only available at a widescreen 360p quality - not very good. On most parts of it you don't even notice it and the quality actually looks really good, but there are a few parts of the video that don't look so good in the quality. Track InformationTotal Run Time: 28:52 Track Name: In This Like 2012 Release Date: 08/04/2017 Artists: KT ConclusionInterest/Retention --> 5/5 Sound Quality --> 5/5 Production --> 5/5 Sound --> 4.5/5 Lyrics --> 4.5/5 We give "Cerebral" by KT an overall score of 9.6/10!! This is a very, very good score!! It's about onpar with all of Residual's other review outcomes. Whilst simple, and not what we were expecting, the music video is still pretty good an interesting.
It is the first one that Residual Records (or Exploit) have ever made, so they will definatly get better and more confident at it later. It seems like they really want to make music videos with their songs, having asked their followers about it repeatedly on Twitter.
